EFA Membership Details

MACHINE ELEGIBILITY:

Pre 70 machines must be of a type built in Britain before 31/12/69, and be fitted with British manufactured hubs, engine, gearbox, carburettor, fork sliders and frame, replicas of these parts are allowed but must be the same as the original silhouette. Fork sliders must look like a British manufactured part used on a British bike at that time, internal modifications are allowed and the maximum allowed tube diameter is 35mm. Non British manufactured forks (e.g. Ceriani, Betor) used on British machines before 31/12/69 can only be used on the specific model of machine to which they were fitted before 31/12/69. Reed valves are not allowed. Amal Mk2 carburettors are not allowed. All Pre 70 machines must use tyres with tubes. All Twin Shock Machines must be Air Cooled, no disc brakes, no hydraulic clutch, fork diameter 36mm maximum, (except SWM Jumbo) and originally built as twin-shock, i.e. no converted mono-shocks. The responsibility to prove that a machine complies with the rules rests with the competitor. 

AWARDS: 

The Club Policy is not to give Awards unless it specifically says so in the Regulations, however placing's will be published in the following manner: Best Pre-Unit Construction & Runner Up, Best Unit Construction & Runner Up, Best Two Stroke, Best Rigid, Best Girder, and Best Sidecar. All placing's will be subject to a minimum of five entries per class or at the organiser’s discretion. 

SECTIONS:

 Veteran & Easy Routes, pleasure riding only - no awards. 50/50 & Hard Routes, any rider may choose to ride these routes and by doing so will be eligible for a placing or award (at the organiser’s discretion) but only if the machine is eligible. Girder forked machines will ride the easy route but results and placing's (awards) will be treated as for hard route sections. Having chosen which route to ride the rider must ride the same route all day. Failure to do so will be treated as a failure in that Section. 

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS:

The club has various annual championship awards for competitors riding the Hard and 50/50 routes within the respective classes; Rigid, Pre-unit, Unit, 2-Stroke, and Twin Shock. These are presented yearly at the AGM held in March. EFA MEMBERSHIP: We meet at The Alma, Copford, near Marks Tey, Colchester on the first Tuesday of each month. Our main event is the Ian Preedy Memorial Thumpers British Bike Trial which is held in November. We also organise Centre Restricted trials, several ‘Closed to Club’ trials and under the Anglia Classic Trials Club (ACTC) arm of the club AMCA regulated trials not requiring an ACU competition licence. Many other Eastern Centre ACU clubs also include a class for Pre-65 and Twinshock machines in their events which EFA members are eligible to enter. Membership runs from January 1st until December 31st, fees are as follows: 

EFA Membership including the Trials & Tribulations club magazine £14.00. Contact Membership Secretary for details. EFA Youth Membership (under 18 yrs and no Trials & Tribulations) £3.00.  The Trials & Tribulations magazine will be available on club nights but if you cannot come to club nights and would like the Trials & Tribulations club magazine posted to you then you will need to supply A5 SAEs please (DL size are too small). Normal 1st or 2nd class stamps should suffice for a single copy. However, multiple copies of T&T will require stamps at the large letter rate. Note: The Trials & Tribulations is available to download for free from their respective websites.
